Recruitment

Faculty are recruited annually to fill the over 500 spots for teachers in a number of courses and clerkship rotations offered to Wightman-Berris Academy students at the anchor hospitals, as well as a number of community hospitals.

The majority of recruitment for pre-clerkship and Academy Scholars occurs in the months prior to the beginning of the academic year in late August.

Interested physicians, nurses and allied health professionals should contact Anne Marie Holmes, 416-340–4832 or visit any of the Medical Education offices to inquire about pre-clerkship teaching.

There are a variety of ways in which tutors are involved in the education of medical students:

  • Clinical skills teachings
  • Problem-based learning
  • Case-based learning seminars
  • Tutorials
  • Research supervision and evaluation
  • Mentorship
  • Academy Scholars

The time commitment for teaching varies with each course and there are opportunities available every day of the week. See the Curriculum Information for courses taught at the academy.
