Criteria for Nomination

The Golden Stethoscope Award is presented to Medical Students who have demonstrated the following characteristics during their third-year rotations:

  • compassion, caring, altruism
  • academic excellence
  • the ability to go “above and beyond”
The recipient should be “the type of medical student you would like to walk into your room if you were a patient at one of the Academy hospitals.”
Established in 2005, the award is presented to up to eight students each year.
Process for Nomination

Completed forms with the name, rotation and supporting letter should be submitted to the Wightman-Berris Academy Director’s office. A committee reviews the nominees and selects up to eight students from the Wightman-Berris Academy who fulfil the criteria.
